The Children’s Society is a leading national charity driven by the belief that every child deserves a good childhood. Safe In The City is a city centre based project who provide support, advice and befriending to children and young people in Manchester and Salford who run away or are at risk of, and to asylum seeking children who are isolated and excluded.

You will be providing efficient and well-ordered administrative support to the Administration Manager and team colleagues ensuring a high level of confidentiality is maintained.

On a day-to-day basis your role will cover everything from word processing, filing, petty cash\finance, archiving and data recording.

We are looking for a solid background in administration, a thorough, well-organised approach to work, and the ability to deal sensitively with children, young people, their families, and other professionals.

Hours of work will be 17.5 per week. This post is funded until March 2009.

Interviews will be held on 17th July 2008. 

Administration Assistant

Job purpose:

  • To provide efficient and effective supporting administration services

Reporting to:

  • Administration Manager

Location:

  • Safe In The City - Manchester

Reward Band:

XB £12,906 - £16,704 pro rata

Key activities:

  • To provide efficient and well ordered administrative support to the Administration Manager and team colleagues ensuring a high level of confidentiality is maintained.
  • To undertake administrative duties such as word processing, filing, archiving data recording.
  • To support the preparation of accurate and timely reports on administrative or operational matters using available data and to an agreed format.
  • To support the administrator in organising the provision of equipment, office supplies and services as required.
  • To provide assistance in monitoring expenditure.
  • To deal with enquiries made to the project including those from children and young people
  • To provide a warm, welcoming and professional approach to users of the project.

Attainments:

In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have:

  • Relevant professional qualification such as RSA level I or level II.
  • Experience of working in an administrative position.
  • IT skills in word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and email. The Children’s Society uses Microsoft Office applications.
