The Children’s Society in Warrington provides a range of family support services, focusing on improving the well being of children and young people (0-19) and especially those who may have additional needs. We have a strong emphasis on listening to, and involving children and young people, in the design, delivery and review of services.
We are looking for an Administration Manager with a solid background in administration who has a thorough, well-organised approach to work, and the ability to deal sensitively with children, young people, visitors and other professionals.
You will be an excellent administrator, capable of delivering a diverse range of relevant tasks such as: assisting in the management and planning of budgets, maintaining effective office systems, and dealing with visitors and enquiries in a positive manner.
You will need high-level IT skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office applications, good communication skills, and a commitment to supporting the project in operating at maximum efficiency. A relevant qualification in administration to A level / NVQ 3 standard or equivalent is essential.

Administration Manager (Temporary)

Job purpose:
- To provide innovative, high quality business administration which enables the achievement of The Children’s Society’s objectives in line with its corporate responsibilities.
Reporting to:
Reward Band:
- Admin Staff C (band 3) £19,810 - £25,633 (pay award pending)
Key activities:
- Finance – To achieve effective use of resources through budget planning and management, including monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure, including variance and reforecasting reports.
- Presentation & Marketing – To ensure that all points of contact with the project are clear, professional and exemplars of The Children’s Society brand.
- Office Management – To provide effective systems for office management which establish and maintain a productive, inclusive and safe working environment.
- Information – To maintain & devise effective records and systems, which demonstrate the accountability of the project within The Children’s Society and the external world.
- Admin services – To provide a range of administrative services to ensure that the project produces professional reports and documents, and that the project interfaces effectively with The Children’s Society’s organisational systems.
- People – To line manage other member’s staff or volunteers when required.
Attainments:
In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have:
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of planning and managing a budget with multiple funding streams; ability to analyse budgetary information and report on income and expenditure, including variance reporting and reforecasting
- Planning to achieve best value and efficiency with the available resources
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of high standards of service in an administration role with minimum supervision
- It is likely that you will have substantial experience in a similar role
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications or experience equivalent to ‘A’ level/NVQ 3 standard
Work Based Knowledge
- Experience in the management and delivery of a diverse range of administrative tasks and financial reporting within a single or multi-site office environment
- Experience in developing administrative systems which increase and enhance maximum efficiency
Skills
- Strong IT skills. The Children's Society uses the Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Analyse, report and manage financial information
- A high standard of numeracy and literacy
- Ability to manage self and prioritise workload
- Strong communication skills with children and young people, clients, public, staff and other professionals

Special Job Circumstances:
This post has the following special circumstances:
- Occasional travel to attend project, regional and national meetings
- Occasional out of office hours working for attendance at meetings
- Some lone working created by the work pattern of other members of staff
- In some locations there will be a requirement to line-manage an Administration Assistant(s)
