The Children’s Society LEAP Project aims to ensure refugee children and disabled children are treated fairly and have opportunities for a good childhood.

We are seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to assist in providing efficient and well-ordered administrative support to our busy and committed team.

You will undertake administrative duties such as word processing, filing, data inputting, organising the provision of equipment, office supplies and services as required and generally supporting the Administration Manager.   To deal professionally with enquiries made to the project and to provide a warm, welcoming and professional approach to users of the project.

You will need experience of working in an administrative position and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel and Powerpoint ),  you will be educated to NVQ2 level or equivalent.

Hours of work will be 17.5 per week.

Reporting to:

Administration Manager/Programme Manager

Job purpose:

To provide efficient and effective supporting administration services.

Key activities:

  • To provide efficient and well ordered administrative support to the Programme Manager and team colleagues ensuring a high level of confidentiality is maintained.
  • To undertake administrative duties such as word processing, filing, archiving, data recording, supporting the Administration Manager.
  • To support the preparation of accurate and timely reports on administrative or operational matters using available data and to an agreed format.
  • To support the Administration Manager in organising the provision of equipment, office supplies and services as required.
  • To provide assistance in monitoring expenditure.
  • To deal professionally with enquiries made to the project.
  • To provide a warm, welcoming and professional approach to users of the project.
  • To participate as a full member of the LEAP Project at team meetings, receive regular supervision and attend other appropriate meetings and training.
  • To carry out all responsibilities of the post with full regard to the Society’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the Project’s Equal Opportunities Plan.

Attainments:

In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have:

  • AN NVQ2 or equivalent in IT and office skills.
  • Experience of working in an administrative position and skills in organising office systems.
  • IT skills in word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and email.
  • The Children’s Society uses Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good written and communication skills.

  • Occasional travel within the region and nationally.
  • Occasional work out of core hours.
