At The Children’s Society we believe that every child deserves a good childhood. The success of the Community Fundraising department is a major factor in achieving our aims and this key role provides administrative support as a Co-ordinator within the department.

Community Fundraising raises over £5 million each year through a variety of income streams and the jobholder will be responsible for administration and support of the team. You will coordinate a variety of fundraising activities, for example booking talks and speakers, supporter liaison and managing volunteer applications.

An experienced administrator, you will have excellent time management, research, IT, data presentation and communication skills. You must be able to prioritise your workload, work on your own initiative and be a team player.

 Hours for this role are 35 per week

Reporting to:

Community Fundraising Volunteer and Supporter Manager

Job purpose:

  • To work in partnership with the field-based team, the HQ based Community Fundraising team so as to provide a co-ordinating ‘voice’ for Community Fundraising at HQ for supporters and volunteers and work to ensure that a high quality of service is provided in respect of the recruitment, training, induction, motivation, supporting and equipping of Community Fundraising supporters and volunteers.
  • To provide comprehensive administrative and strategy delivery support in HQ for the Community Fundraising field personnel, The Volunteer Communication Strategy land the Box Fundraising Strategy.


Key activities

  • To support the Community Fundraising management in the diary planning; meeting arrangements; room bookings & refreshments, checking & reconciling monthly expenses claims and flagging exceptions to SCFM/Head, also liaise with Purchase Order and Finance teams
  • To support the Field team in processing all volunteer recruitment applications, follow up references and CRB checks, & ensure Raisers Edge is updated; data entry of amendments to Raisers Edge, booking talks & speakers, as requested by CFM's; matching opportunity to availability; making all the arrangements and administering small volume mailing selections
  • To support The Volunteer Communication Strategy, working with the Community Fundraising Communications Manager the Community Fundraising Events and Committee Coordinator, plus key CFM’s to support the development and implementation of a centralised and integrated year round communication strategy for Community Volunteers.
  • To liase with colleagues in other departments so as to administer & monitor committee bank accounts, materials and banking arrangements, including bank sweep system; administer Committee annual returns: issuing; chasing; following up, handle and administer event expenses incurred by committees
  • To work with the Box Fundraising team, plus key CFM’s, so as to support the development and implementation of a centralised and integrated Box Fundraising Strategy.
  • To work with HQ volunteers who support the function of the team.

Attainments:

In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have:·

  • Experience of working in an administration role for a complex department with the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Experience of working with a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and an ability to demonstrate experience of working in a multi-task environment, working to deadlines
  •  Ability to schedule work to make the most effective use of time
  •  Good communication skills, including inter-personal communication, writing and telephone
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to a minimum of ECDL standard. The Children’s Society use Microsoft Office applications
  •  Proficiency in internet and intranet use and maintenance
