At Unity we are focused on youth justice, disability, advocacy, children’s rights, social exclusion, participation, poverty and capacity building for children and young people aged 4 – 19 years and their families. We deliver this through drop-in sessions, targeted programmes, school visits, liaising with local authorities and partner organisations.
As a Caretaker/Cleaner your focus will be to keep the project clean and hygienic, paying special attention to the kitchen areas, washroom facilities, offices, meeting rooms and main hall. You will be required to ensure the physical environment is maintained and kept in a safe state of repair at all times (e.g. minor internal/external repairs. You will also be responsible for carrying out general D.I.Y and maintenance at our project (such as painting & decorating).
The ability to plan and orgainise tasks and day-to-day duties is essential.

PART-TIME CARETAKER/CLEANER
(16 hours per week - with a flexible approach)

SAX 1 – 6 £11,530 to £13,912 pro rata (£5.77 - £8.86 per hour)

Job purposes:
To keep the project clean and hygienic, paying special attention to kitchen area and washroom facilities whilst keeping rooms/office surfaces visibly clean and free of any dust, dirt, debris or spillages.
Key activities:
- To maintain the general cleanliness and hygienic standards required for a project servicing children and young people as well as the staff working at the project.
- The building will need to be kept in a high state of cleanliness with each of the rooms being cleaned on a daily basis.
- Replenish consumables in kitchen and washrooms.
- Sanitise the washrooms and children & young people’s chairs and tables daily
- Kitchens and any other food preparation areas will need to be cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
- Refuse will need to be emptied daily and bins kept clean.
- The cleaner/caretaker will be responsible for maintaining the cleaning equipment, reporting any faults immediately and informing the Administration Manager of any low stock levels and additional cleaning materials that may be required using allocated forms.
- Occasional D.I.Y / painting / & buffing of floors as and when required.
- Any additional duties as identified by the Administration Manager.
Attainments:
In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have;
Experience:
- Experience of cleaning in similar setting, e.g. school or hospital or community centre
Qualifications:

- Experience of how to maintain cleaning equipment and how to look after cleaning materials safely.
