We are looking for an inspirational and passionate individual to take up a critical role within the Direct Marketing team at The Children’s Society. You will play an integral role in helping us deliver our annual fundraising plan to raise over £8.5 million of income from individuals. In addition you'll have significant responsibility and plenty of opportunity to implement your ideas
In order to take our retention programme to the next level you will have significant experience in delivering innovative customer/supporter retention campaigns over a variety of platforms such as email, SMS, social media, telephone & direct mail. It is expected that you'll have strong marketing experience preferably within a direct marketing or charity environment and be able to work from you own initiative.. A passion for fundraising is essential as is an interest in pursuing a career in direct marketing.

Job Purpose:
The primary focus of this role will be to manage supporter/customer retention campaigns ensuring that individual projects are delivered on time, within budget and to target. You will deliver innovative retention campaigns over a variety of platforms such as direct mail, SMS, email, telephone & social media. The role will involve interpreting complex data sets relating to KPI’s and implementing findings to improve programme R.O.I
Key Activities:
- To execute campaigns on time and within budget to meet the agreed targets, including researching subject matter, briefing agencies/suppliers, project managing the creative process, briefing data selections/media planning, managing project budgets, print/production where necessary, ensuring data returns are timely and relevant, and post campaign reviews are completed.
- To effectively and proactively contribute to the formulation of marketing plans and annual budgets for the Direct Marketing programme, covering primarily SMS and online media, telemarketing, direct mail and door to door.
- To work on a day to day basis with internal and external suppliers, maintaining a professional and efficient working relationship. In particular ensure that briefings to Data Services and Supporter Relations teams are in the appropriate format and within the agreed timescales.
- To regularly monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of campaigns, drawing conclusions and making recommendations for future fundraising activities.
- To ensure that adequate records of marketing campaigns are maintained, including, post-campaign review documents, guard files and financial records.
- To ensure that staff and volunteers for whom management responsibility may be assigned are appropriately recruited, trained, developed and informed.
- To maintain an awareness of competitor activity and developments in the market.
- To provide support to the direct marketing team in planning and executing digital fundraising campaigns in supporter/customer retention, development and acquisition.
- To lead projects, and undertake ad hoc activities.
- To ensure that opportunities for children and young people to have a voice and influence in our work are prioritised.
- To communicate through team meetings and team briefs in order to inform appropriately all team members about The Children’s Society’s vision, mission, values and objectives.
Attainments:
In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have:
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of reducing supporter/customer attrition and improving retention of supporters/customers
- Demonstrable experience of running successful email, SMS and multi-media campaigns
- Demonstrable experience of working within a results-driven department, preferably in a direct marketing and/or charity environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communications skills
- Excel & Word skills are an advantage
- Passionate interest in pursuing a professional career in direct marketing or fundraising are essential
- Strong project management skills
