As a Assistant Shop Manager for The Children's Society, you'll need the following skills:
• Recruitment, training and people skills to build and lead a diverse team of volunteers
• The drive to achieve financial targets through the proactive sourcing of stock, efficient preparation of stock for sale and high standards of
shop presentation
• Ability to remain customer focused and deliver excellent servicen standards
• An organised approach to administration and experience managing Health & Safety
JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Assistant Shop Manager
Salary: £12,767-£14,540 (pro rata £9,661 - £11,003)
Location: West Hampstead

To assist the Shop Manager in maximising sales and to run the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager
To assist the Shop Manager in the setting of sales and expenditure targets and ensure plans are in place to achieve them.
To assist in the management of stock from processing through to presentation ensuring the shop operates to Retail minimum standards.
To assist in the recruitment and retention of shop volunteers to ensure shop can open the agreed hours and operate to minimum standards.
To assist in the training and development of volunteers in all aspects of Retail.
To ensure that all shop admin is completed to deadlines required and in line with Retail policies and procedures as requested by the Shop Manager.
To ensure Health & Safety policies are applied and adhered to in the absence of the Shop Manager.
To assist in the planning and implementation of internal and external sales promotion as requested by the Shop Manager.
To deal with messages and enquiries and to manage customer complaints in the absence of the Shop Manager.
To attend training courses and meetings as required.
To promote the work of The Children’s Society.
Any other duties as requested by line management
In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have:
Qualifications
GCSE English and maths or equivalent
Experience
Cash handling
Customer service
Work based knowledge
Basic understanding of the retail environment and of working with volunteers
Skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to supervise a team of volunteers
