From this key position, you’ll will support and help to formulate an exciting strategy in which you will aim to grow a portfolio of loyal, multi-faceted corporate partnerships. You will draw on opportunities and expertise from around our organisation to create, deliver and manage successful, sustainable relationships.

The responsibilities are varied but predominately include securing new business, account management/development of existing corporate supporters and supporting regional and retail colleagues to develop their network of corporate supporters.

You will be a self-starter, and have the have energy, initiative and people skills required to inspire confidence and deliver results following a period of change and restructure within the organisation.

Job purpose:

To succeed in this role you will spearhead creative and collaborative corporate fundraising initiatives which will help to transform the lives of the children and young people we work with.

You will support and help to formulate an exciting strategy in which you will aim to grow a portfolio of loyal, multi-faceted corporate partnerships. You will draw on opportunities and expertise from around our organisation to create, deliver and manage successful, sustainable relationships.

Key activities

1.To work collaboratively with teams across the charity and especially in our Children and Young People Division, to help identify attractive corporate propositions. These will positively benefit children’s lives on the one hand, and provide clear benefits and outcomes for the corporate partner on the other.

2. To pro-actively research and make targeted approaches to companies, matching the needs of The Children’s Society, to the interests and aims of the company. This will involve leading the creation of tailored and structured approaches to corporate prospects.

3. To work alongside colleagues, in particular in the regional and retail teams to seize opportunities to raise the profile of The Children’s Society which will consequently, increase our potential to secure high value, sustainable partnerships.

4. To encourage colleagues from across the organisation to ‘introduce’ their corporate networks and contacts to us by demonstrating prompt, professional and appropriate action when they do.

5. To lead or play an active role in cross-divisional working to ensure the successful delivery of activities involving or funded by our corporate supporters.

6. To deliver excellent prospect and client management, to strengthen relationships and maximise their support and loyalty to The Children’s Society.

7. To be an active and collaborative member of the wider Partnership Development Team which includes statutory, lottery, Europe, trusts and foundations and major donor fundraising.

8. To manage, monitor and review key areas of the corporate team’s work to improve our efficiency and effectiveness. To instigate new protocols and policies where necessary.

9. To network effectively, and build strong relationships externally and internally.

10. To exert influence in order to deliver the best results.

11. To provide direction, support and learning opportunities across the Partnership Development Team and more widely in the organisation to share your knowledge and experience of corporate fundraising.

12. To ensure that systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge), policies and best practices are adhered to in order to develop fruitful relationships with internal and external clients.

13. To take on line management responsibility where required.

14. To work with children and young people to enable them to have a voice and influence in our work.

Attainments

In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have the following experience, qualifications, knowledge and skills.

Experience:
• Proven success in securing new Corporate partnerships across a range of income streams and delivering against ambitious targets.
• Experience of working collaboratively and across teams to shape fundraising opportunities.
• Experince of all New Business actrivity – including research, cold calling, and writing targeted proposals and presentations.
• Experience of team working and leadership
• Experience of setting and managing personal workloads
• Able to demonstrate an ability to operate at the highest management level
• Able to demonstrate an ability to work creatively and flexibly to achieve results

Qualifications
• Educated to degree level of equivalent


Work based knowledge
The post holder should have a good understanding of the voluntary sector with specialist knowledge of the corporate sector

Skills
• The postholder will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• The postholder will have first class presentation skills
• The postholder will have excellent project management skills
• The postholder will have excellent IT skills and be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Raisers Edge etc.
